Company Profile

Established in 2015 as the holding company for various other mature companies, the vision was to perfect an all-round solution for emergency and security requirements. Eugene "Pottie" Potgieter

Eugene ("Pottie") Potgieter served with the South African Police Services (SAPS) from 1985, mainly as a detective, until he resigned in 2000 to pursue a career in the security industry. He held the rank of Superintendent (Lt / Colonel) and he served as Detective Branch Commander in the South African Police Services, first in Carletonville and later Krugersdorp. He holds a National Diploma in Police Administration and has 14 years of experience in investigation of crime and court procedures. After more than 18 years of experience in the security industry, he is well versed in several aspects of asset protection, including but not limited to the mining industry, corporate structures and armed protection. He also has a broad knowledge of security technologies, such as alarm-, CCTV- and access control systems.


Employees are well screened and interviewed prior to appointment:

  • All staff must have a minimum "Grade D" PSIRA training level
  • All staff members receive induction training upon employment
  • Staff and management undergo continuous on-site training as well as bi-monthly training sessions at the company's premises
  • When new business is secured, we ensure that management & staff are trained according to the precise needs of the client
  • Senior management ensures client's full satisfaction at every new site before handing over the reins to the supervisors, who then continue with stringent management & control over these sites
  • All staff follow various checks for honesty (polygraph examinations); quality purposes; criminal & credit checks; employment history; medical checks; integrity assessments; PSIRA registration (minimum Grade C); qualification verification; appearance & presentation

  • All prospective candidates are carefully screened, and their qualificaitons & work experience is verified
  • All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications criteria in terms of formal education and the necessary PSIRA qualificaitons
  • We encourage our staff to strive for continual enhancement of their abilities by providing on-the-job training, in-house training and external training by accredited institutions


Liability Insurance

In order to cater for unforeseeable liabilities, Gladiator has an insurance policy covering liability to the value of R20 000 000 (R20 million) in place.
